The Agava Apartment House is situated in Croatia, on island of Brač, in Sutivan. The apartment house was totally renovated and modernized in 2009. The house is placed 150-200m from the centre of Sutivan and from the beach. Near the house you can find supermarkets, the market, cafés, restaurants and the post office. There are 6 family apartments (for 4 or 5 pers.) and 4 studios (for 2 pers.) in Agava Apartment House. Every apartment has either a balcony or a terrace.
Each apartment has its own well-equipped kitchen but there is an option of having half board in a nearby restaurant. For a group of people who prefer cooking together we recommend the common kitchen on the first floor and a grill in the garden. Parking possibility: in front of the house or in a huge parking lot 80m from the apartment house. The Agava Apartment House has its own swimming pool for children in the yard (7 x 4 x 0.9 m). Friendly, not dangerous, house-trained dogs are welcome in Agava Apartment House.
About the island and Sutivan
The island of Brač is the third biggest island of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. The territory of Brač is 394 km2, its population is 14.000. The towns are rather small on the island where you can find characteristic Mediterranean buildings very close to each other. The island can be approached by ferryboat from the town of Split. The Dalmatian capital is 7 miles (nautical) from the island of Brač, the journey takes about 1 hour. The ferry arrives in the capital of the island, in Supetar. The Agava Apartment House is in Sutivan, 7 km from Supetar. Sutivan is situated in the north-west coast of the island of Brač just opposite to Split. This typical Dalmatian town has 640 permanent inhabitants. The climate is Mediterranean, from June till September the temperature reaches 35°C, the tempe- rature of the sea is between 22 and 28°C. The inhabitants deal with tourism, maritime affairs, fishery and agriculture. Supetar, the capital and the biggest ferry port of the island is 10 minutes far (by car) from Sutivan. Supetar as named after Saint Peter. The capital is one of the most animated towns on the island. Several cafes, pubs, restaurants, dancing clubs are waiting for those who cannot sleep at night. It is worth visiting the highest peak of Brač: Vidova Gora (778 m), where you can see an astonishing landscape of the surrounding islands, and a breath less view on the town of Bol and the Golden Horn (Zlatni rat).
Those who enjoy hiking and visiting a cultural heritage should visit the Desert Blaca. The road to the monastery of Blaca is like a mediaeval pilgrimage.
The most interesting characteristics of the island is the fine quality marble, which is called the "stone of Brač". Washington's White House, the Diocletianus Palace of Split, the Reichstag of Berlin, the Parliament of Vienna are just some of the monumental buildings made from this marble.
The beaches in Sutivan and on the island are shingly but the Likva beach in Sutivan is sandy. The coast of Sutivan is the clearest one in Dalmatia. Everybody can find his / her own beach. There is a possibility to choose a more animated or a silent bay. The sea is ideal for children because the water gets deeper very slow. It is worth wearing swimming shoes to have a more comfortable walk on the beach.
The Agava Apartment House has its own swimming pool in the yard (7 x 4 x 0.9 m) which is a pool for children. Lovrečina is also an ideal swimming place for little children which is 21 km far from Sutivan. The level of the sea here is very low that is why it is one of the favourite places of many parents. It is also an archeological place where you can find the remains of early Christian church, this is one of the best preserved wells in Dalmatia. You can also find here a place for horse-riding and catering facilities. The most popular beach on the island of Brač is in Bol, which is called the Golden Horn beach. There is a possibility to do several water sports there like: jet ski, water biking, banana, water ski.
